What Hunch is
Hunch is your advisor at the moment of decision: before you reply, click, pay, or trust a message, it tells you whether it could cost you money, time, or data. A fake recruiter, a “pay this fee” text, a “quick collab” — Hunch checks the message before you act on it.
One idea, two places
Hunch runs as a Chrome extension inside Gmail, LinkedIn, WhatsApp Web and Facebook, checking messages as you read them. This website runs the same detection engine so you can check any message — including a text on your phone — by pasting it in.
Because everyone gets messages that could cost them money or data, everyone is a potential user: job seekers, shoppers, creators, newcomers, and the people who help their parents.
Who’s behind it
Hunch is built by a founder who spent years around online fraud — including helping people recover from pyramid and investment schemes. The pattern was always the same: by the time someone realized a message was a trap, the money or the account was already gone. Hunch exists to move that moment earlier — to the second before you reply, click, or pay.
Built to be inspectable
Detection runs on your device, and it’s built to be inspectable — the signals that flag a message are plain logic, not a black box. We’d rather you trust Hunch because you can see how it decides than because we told you to.
Honest by design
Hunch catches a lot, but not everything. No warning is not a promise a message is safe. It gives you a moment to think, in plain language, before you trust a message — the decision stays yours.
